Philip A. Sakalian, D.O.

Dr. Philip A. Sakalian is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement of the hip and knee, while also providing comprehensive general orthopedic and fracture care. A native of Southeast Michigan, Dr. Sakalian is proud to serve the community where he was raised.

Dr. Sakalian earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his medical degree from Michigan State University, followed by Orthopedic Surgery residency training in Miami. He then completed advanced fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where he trained alongside internationally recognized leaders in total joint arthroplasty.

Dr. Sakalian utilizes cutting edge surgical techniques and technology, including robotic-assisted surgery and computer-assisted navigation, when appropriate to provide precise, individualized care. He is also actively involved in orthopedic research and education and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters.

His practice encompasses the full spectrum of orthopedic care, from nonoperative treatment and fracture care to complex hip and knee reconstruction and total joint replacement. Dr. Sakalian takes a personalized, patient-centered approach, educating each patient about their condition and treatment options while developing a plan tailored to their individual goals and lifestyle.

Outside of orthopedics, Dr. Sakalian enjoys spending time with his wife, Alexa and their three young children. He also enjoys staying active and being in the outdoors, ice hockey, boating, and Michigan sports.
