Tyler J. Masters, M.D.

Dr. Tyler Masters is a lifelong Michigander, who was raised in Metro Detroit and attended Michigan State University for both his undergraduate education and medical school. He completed his general surgery residency at St. John Hospital before pursuing fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery with Michigan Surgery Specialists. Returning to Southeast Michigan to build his career has been especially meaningful, allowing him to care for the same community that has been home to him and his family.

As a hand surgeon, Dr. Masters is committed to providing knowledgeable, thoughtful, and personalized care to every patient. He recognizes that no two patients are the same, and that each individual comes to treatment with their own priorities, lifestyle, and goals. Whether treatment involves nonsurgical management, therapy, or surgery, he takes the time to understand what matters most to each patient and develops a plan tailored to their unique needs. The wide variety of ways patients use their hands—from work, to hobbies, to daily living—and the opportunity to restore function for these activities is what drew Dr. Masters to the field of hand surgery. He strives to ensure every patient feels heard, informed, and comfortable throughout their care, while providing the expertise and confidence they can rely on to help them return to the activities that are important to them.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Masters enjoys spending time with his family and friends throughout Michigan. He is an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan State University and Detroit sports, and he enjoys taking advantage of everything Michigan has to offer outdoors. Depending on the season, he can be found golfing, fishing, or skiing.
