Dr. Alexander J. Colen is a second generation Orthopedic Surgeon who grew up in Southeast Michigan. Dr. Colen attended Oakland University for his undergraduate work, followed by medical school at Michigan State University. He then completed his Orthopedic residency at Beaumont Health Farmington Hills. Following residency, Dr. Colen spent time working as an apprentice in hand surgery with Michigan Surgery Specialists. He then completed a fellowship which specialized in hand and upper extremity surgery at the University at Buffalo, NY.
Dr. Colen is a published author and has won multiple awards both regionally and nationally for his work in Orthopedics. He has presented his research at local, regional and national meetings. He is passionate about teaching Orthopedic medicine to medical trainees.
Dr. Colen is committed to providing high-quality patient care to each individual in his practice. He strives to deliver care that he would want for his own family. He believes that a multi-disciplinary approach to Orthopedic medicine is important for successful healing of his patients.
